Learning project

Protocol
Eclipse

A modular space-exploration game built as a course project—and an early exercise in turning requirements into a complete interactive program.

Why it matters

Learning through
a complete system.

Games force many parts of a program to cooperate: state, input, rules, feedback, and progression. Protocol Eclipse provided a contained place to practise decomposing those responsibilities instead of placing everything in one loop.

Takeaways

Modularity

Break larger behaviour into components with clear responsibilities.

State

Track a changing world while keeping player feedback understandable.

Iteration

Turn course requirements into working features, then refine how they fit together.

Structure

Use readable organization and version control to make changes easier to reason about.

Context

This is presented as a learning project rather than a commercial game. Its value is in the programming decisions and the experience of carrying an interactive idea through to a functioning result.
